Back Loop Slip Stitch Crochet Dishcloth – Free Pattern. Learn how to slip stitch in the back loop only (BLO) and create a beautiful, functional crochet dishcloth with incredible texture and drape.

This design was inspired by the classic knit dishcloths lovingly made by my grandmother-in-law. The kind that somehow outperform half the dishcloth patterns I’ve made myself (yes… I’ll admit it!).

Those soft, squishy garter-style cloths have always been my go-to, especially with a toddler in the house. I reach for them constantly to wipe little hands and clean the kitchen table after meals.

I wanted to capture that same knit-like texture, flexibility, and absorbency in a crochet version, and the back loop slip stitch technique was the perfect match. The result is a dishcloth with wonderful stretch, a gentle scrubby texture, and that cozy handmade feel we all love.

Whether you’re making it for everyday use, gifting, or just trying a new stitch technique, I hope this pattern becomes a new favorite in your kitchen too.
