A Hundred Stripes Blanket from Pukapuka

A hundred stripes blanket is a beautiful way to use scrap yarn. Sometimes the best crochet projects are the ones that let your mind unwind while your hands stay busy.

This blanket is exactly that—a joyful escape into color and texture that welcomes creativity at every turn. Whether you’re working through your yarn stash or carefully curating a new combination of shades, this project encourages playfulness without pressure.

The stitch pattern is intentionally easy to memorize, so you can settle into a soothing rhythm as the rows grow. It’s the kind of project you can pick up at any time. During quiet mornings, cozy evenings, or even on the go—without needing to track your place or consult a chart.

Ideal for both seasoned crocheters and adventurous beginners, it offers the comforting simplicity of moss stitch with endless opportunities for personalization.

Use all your leftover yarn, follow my color suggestions or compose your own palette to make this soft and cozy blanket to be used throughout the years.

A Hundred Stripes Blanket Inspiration

The idea of the blanket was born, when I needed a cheering up project, that wouldn’t require following a pattern. Something really relaxing. No counting.

Also, it had to be practical, I mean: not only fun to make, but also fun to use. A colorful, very easy and big enough crochet blanket seemed perfect to me!

This blanket requires no counting which makes it a perfect, relaxing and meditative project. Very simple moss stitch is just chain 1 and single crochet alternating all the way down.

If you wish, add a simple ribbed border, with front post half double crochet and back post half double crochet alternating, both stitches explained in the pattern.
